Tuning your dulcimer, especially as a beginner, can present some challenges. However, with practice, the process becomes easier. A well-tuned dulcimer not only enhances the quality of your music but also aids you in mastering finger placement for notes.

To tune your instrument, simply touch the note for the string you wish to tune and adjust the tuning pegs on your dulcimer to match the played note.

Tip: It's advisable to make multiple passes while tuning each string. Often, after tuning all strings once, returning to the first tuned string may reveal a slight deviation. This occurs as adjusting the tension on one string can cause minute changes in pitch for the others due to potential pressure shifts within the instrument's body. To ensure all strings are accurately tuned, continue to check and adjust them through multiple passes.
